The Bargersville Community Fire Department was started with the creation of the Bargersville Men’s Club in the year of 1941-1942. Dues were $10 a year. The Club originally met at the gun range across from Umbarger & Sons grain Elevator on Old Plank Rd. The name was soon changed to the Bargersville Community Association. In 1954, the association became the Bargersville Community Volunteer Fire Department. The Bargersville Fire Protection District was established in 1992 and since then the department has grown from a volunteer fire department a career/combination department with over 80 employees. Today the department provides Fire / EMS / Special Rescue Operations from 3 fire stations covering 71 square miles.
